Courthouse 2023

In the middle of our busy downtown city of  Crown Point our gardens offer serenity and contemplation to enjoy the wonders of gardening! The improvements made this year were in honor of so many women (and our very own members) who have battled Breast Cancer.  Everything planted this year was in honor of that and was pink. Azaleas, astilbe, angel wing begonias.

Pollinator Garden 2023

Our newly planted pollinator garden includes several native grasses along side with lovely flowering perennials. The goal being to provide not just color, fragrance and food, but a habitat for hibernating insects . This haven for birds and bees is located inside the Lake County Fairgrounds, on the South side of the Arts and Science  building and has year round interest and structure for everyone to enjoy.

Covered Bridge 2023

This year we concentrated on adding structure and more color with shrubs. We planted Winecraft Smokebushes, Korean Lilac and Summer Crush Hydrangeas.  Another goal was to reduce the time spent watering. We added DIY Drip Irrigation to the planters filled with Annuals and lined a Sun filled bed with drought tolerant Walkers Low Catmint.  The shade gardens are starting to fill out and we edged them with donated edging from a local resident. We brightened the shady beds with some much needed Chartruese Hostas and Hakanchloe Grasses.
