Historic Courthouse Spring Planting Haul 2021
After the large job of revamping these areas back in 2020 and planting several shrubs and perennials, Spring still calls for more color. The challenge in this are is one side is more sunny then the other. The formality of this building is definitely one that calls for a traditionally formal bed where larger quantities of plants and shrubs are used. We'd like to thank all the hard working members that worked today on this epic project! Darlene S. Carol D., Carol C., Amanda W. Christine G. This project takes place in downtown Crown Point Indiana. Spring Planting Haul at the Covered Bridge
Spring planting out at the covered bridge located inside the Lake County fairgrounds in Crown Point Indiana. The Bridge Committee worked diligently through the winter to design these planting beds and decide what needed to be relocated and clean the area up. Most of the plants you see here were purchased with funds from our fundraising projects. Some were grown from seeds from members gardens as well. A big thank you to the following members who worked so hard from 8:30 until about 2 pm. it doesn't feel like work with so many wonderful worker bee's! Cyndi P. Mariann Christine G. Carol C. Carol D. Kids Impromptu Planting at the Covered Bridge
In the Fall of 2020, member of the Covered Bridge Committee had some interested children stop by to watch us plant daffodil and tulip bulbs. Asking us questions, and very interested in the auger we used. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by smiling faces who were happy tp pitch in! and happy Mom's enjoying taking pictures of their kids learning about gardening. The interest level ranged from "that's gross!" when looking at the root portion of a bulb, to "wow" when the drill auger was used to plant the hole. It was a very memorable day, which these women will never forget!
Our 2020 Year in Review
Looking back at 2020 as a Garden Club and seeing all the work we got done. Re-vamping two major gardens, social distancing to keep our community great. The pollinator garden, the Bluestar Memorial. Our club thrived this year despite 2020's issues. Our members should be proud! Below is a video depicting all the work we did in 2020 despite many obstacles that we overcame with the pandemic. Here's to a happy and healthy 2021!
