It's that time of year to start cleaning up leaves and making preparations for the plans we made last year. In our minds we have a vision for this Garden inside the Lake County Bridge and we cannot wait to start digging!

When we first got out here everyone freely admits being completely overwhelmed at the amount of leaves and debris that gets blown into this area! The leaves were literally 2 to 3 feet deep and the ground is dangerously slippery and complete mud underneath.

Getting them removed and letting the ground dry out is going to be crucial so we can work in this area this Spring!

As more gardeners started showing up, you can start to see a huge difference.

The upper bed had some burning bushes that due to bad pruning job many years ago, started to rot out from the center. So with muscle here, we took full advantage of it and had them taken out when the ground was softer.

We have some big plans for this area and the more we get done now, the less we have to do when temps get to 80's and 90's. We see pinky winky hydrangeas, a magnolia, lots of gorgeous mulch to keep the soil moist and some gorgeous annual color.

Annabelle Hydrangeas got dug up and were taken home with one of our gardeners, who will divide, fertilize and hopefully bring them back to this garden full of gorgeous buds. Some will also go to our Flower sale, but only if they start thriving like they should!

At last count, on the day of this cleanup, we stuffed over 25 bags of leaf debris, and rumor has it, we are still doing quick drop ins to fill a couple of bags when we can spare another hour or two.

It's so nice to be surrounded by people who share the same passion and dedication in both good times and bad.

Thank you to everyone who came out and worked hard to make a difference!
